Volume over Four
2025
Comprising of 52 plaster bricks, arranged in a double layered circle, Volume over Four is a work reflecting on the 11 circular remains of the beehive tile kilns at Prestongrange. Intentionally designed with a mauseleom-like appearance, 12 of the bricks have been frogged in gold with a poem alluding to the intensive labour of Prestongrange’s kiln workers. The final word, breathless, invites the viewer to consider to physical, long-lasting effects toiling in such condidions had on workers’ bodies and health.
This work was commissioned by Generator Projects, Dundee, as part of their annual They Had 4 Years exhibition in 2025. The work was shown alongside 4 other commissioned artists, Jungyoon Im, Olivia Margaret Frances, Theodora Koumbouzis and Kristina Gondova.
